Karl Andreas Kolly studied with Hans Schicker in Zürich and Karl Engel in Bern. In 1991 he receives the Eduard-Tschumi Prize for the best Soloist Diploma and continues with masterclasses in Luzern with Mieczyslaw Horczowski. Karl Andreas Kolly participates in competitions and wins international prices, and starts a soloist career with concerts and festivals in Europe, Japan, Korea, China, Australia, and USA. Among orchestras in Switzerland, the pianist performs regularly with Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, Basel and Bern, Zurich Chamber Orchestra or Musikkollegium Winterthur. His extraordinary large repertoire is recorded on more than 80 CDs, among them Mendelssohn with D. Ashkenazy, Skrjabin with Basel Sinfonie-Orchester under Armin Jordan, rarely performed piano concerts from Busoni, Glasunow, D’Albert oder Franz Schmidt, as well as well known concert pieces by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt and Bach. With his Trio Novanta performs Brahms and Franck. Karl-Andreas Kolly is teaching piano performance at the Zurich University of the Arts and is invited regularly to music institutes in Japan and South America.
with Yaël Dengler
The collaboration between Yaël Dengler and Oana Popescu started in 2016, based on their friendship and interest in the piano duo literature. Both pianists studied at the University of the Arts in Zurich and graduated with Master in Performance and Pedagogy.
Since 2015 Yaël collaborates with SRF and singers such as Regula Mühlemann or Mélissa Petit and regularly accompanies soloists from the Opera of Zurich . Both pianists are active soloist and members of chamber music ensembles, and their repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary music.
